Safe Waters

Safe Waters entangles the history of Deptford Central Library, built in 1914 in London, with the ongoing political, social and ecological reality unfolding along the eastern Mediterranean coast: the Levant. The installation unfolds through salt and water, methodologies of map-making, found objects from the Grade-II listed Victorian-era building, and the potential agency of the poppy flower. Through material, sonic and archival links, the connections of the two geographies are highlighted across time.
